How This All Got Started...
My cousin Melanie is a 31 yr old woman from Maine. She's not a complicated or complex woman. She loves her family, her friends, her pets, and gives of herself far too quickly and easily. What makes her such a wonderful, caring person also sets her up to be hurt. She's a lot like her mother that way....giving to others without regard to herself.
Melanie has had quite a bit of hurt in her young life. She has lost her father, her husband decided that maybe marriage wasn't for him, and she discovered a lump in her breast.
Unfortunately, that lump was breast cancer. Also unfortunately, it has metastasized
Melanie has worked hard all her working life...many times taking several jobs. Partly to pay the bills, but because she enjoys being productive. She is NOT one for sitting around daydreaming. She was employed right up until and during the beginning of this medical circumstance. There is no insurance either.
This disease has attacked her body so quickly that she really needs to concentrate on taking care of herself. Starting in August she is starting radiation, chemo, and then surgery.
I know the economy is rough on most everyone right now. As a family of five, I can tell you that we are certainly feeling the pinch. There isn't much I can do for my "Mello", but I do know how to knit and crochet. And I can sell my creations to raise money for her medicine and co-pays.
So, as of now until further notice every purchase from me will give 15% to Melanie's medical bills. For details, fill out the form below:
